Great Regulars: In retrospect, this letter can look like

a parlour-game prelude to a poem published in the TLS two decades later: "Milosz's Return". Here, [Dennis] O'Driscoll shadows the Polish poet--and another source of inspiration for Heaney--through the meadow of his memory. O'Driscoll's tribute to another writer echoes that of Milosz himself for those who went before him along a "well-worn path", and the world's return to its "unhappened" state.
